Why is there 1-2% mineral content in some of the FCE minerals and the rest is salt/rice hulls?

The minerals are diluted with salt and/or rice hulls for a few reasons.  The salt acts as a deterrent to discourage overconsumption and also dilutes the minerals so that one lick isn’t potentially an overdose.  The rice hulls help prevent caking. (Note: there are no rice hulls in the Organic Grassfed Line).  This particular system has been around since the 60s with no known cases of toxicity.  Formulated by nutritional scientists and tested by time, you can be confident that there is no danger of overdose and also that there is just enough of the mineral present for your animals to get what they need.  There have been cases of fatal overdose using homemade blends of copper sulfate.  We offer copper chloride properly diluted with no known issues.
